HealthEquity, a leading administrator of Health Saving Accounts (HSA’s) and other consumer-directed benefits, has appointed Alex Vargas as Vice President of Total Rewards. HealthEquity worked with Frederickson Partners on the executive search.
In the new role, Vargas will help the company continue to build Total Rewards programs to help hire, retain, and develop excellent people. With HealthEquity growing and shifting towards a remote-work model, Vargas will be responsible for overseeing all processes and operations and ensure that compensation and benefits programs and philosophies are aligned to the quickly-scaling, dispersed organization. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of People, Natalie Atwood, Vargas will also work with other members of the People team to identify opportunities for automation and overall process improvement.
Vargas joins HealthEquity from Eventbrite, where he served as Head of Total Rewards, designing, developing and executing the company’s global Total Rewards programs. Prior to Eventbrite, he spent seven years at MoneyGram International in the Senior Vice President of Total Rewards and Shared Services role. Earlier in his career, Vargas worked at Cardinal Health as Director of Global Compensation and at Nationwide Insurance as Director of Compensation. Vargas holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resources from The University of Texas at El Paso.
