Nonprofit affordable housing provider Abode Communities has hired Jerry A. Gonzales as its Vice President, Talent and Culture. The organization worked with Frederickson Partners on the search.
Gonzales serves as an integral member of the senior leadership team, working to promote the social, economic, and physical transformation of underserved communities through service-enhanced affordable housing. In this role, Gonzales is responsible for the oversight and implementation of Abode Communities’ people strategy including staff recruitment, professional development, and racial justice and equity initiatives.

Gonzales joins from Lucas Museum of Narrative Art where he served as Director, Human Resources for three years and prior to that, from Leadership for Educational Equity in Washington, DC where he was Head of Talent, Learning and Culture. He previously acted as Deputy Director, Operations at The Broad Center and served 13 years at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in executive roles at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Community Programs Office (CPO), and the Samahang Pilipino Advancing Community Empowerment (SPACE) Project. Gonzales has a B.A. from UCLA and holds dual certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) with the Society of Human Resources Management. He serves on the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion council of the LA Chapter of the National Human Resources Association.
