Valerie Frederickson is a globally recognized human resources thought leader and entrepreneur. She founded Frederickson Partners in 1995 to address a growing need for strategic human resources leadership almost unknown at the time. With her first clients Genentech, IBM and Electronics for Imaging, and later Facebook, Gilead, Google, Renovo, ServiceNow and Workday, Valerie quickly gained a reputation for identifying and developing cutting edge HR talent for leading Silicon Valley and global employers. She evangelized and documented the rise of the Human Resources Business Partner function and modernized corporate America’s Diversity and Inclusion practices.
Valerie is also founder and CEO of Frederickson Ventures, whose value-add investments include Upwork where she provided strategy and recruited the Chief People Officer; Vector Laboratories, now part of Maravia Life Sciences where she developed the HR roadmap and provided HR advisory; ShipServ, headquartered in London, the largest maritime e-commerce platform where she developed the HR strategy and recruited the executive team; and Annai Systems, the leading genomic data analysis company committed to developing cost-reducing innovations that accelerate scientific discovery, maximize statistical power, and optimize data control, where she consulted on HR strategy.

Valerie and her family live in Menlo Park. She holds a master’s degree in organizational development, twice attended the Directors College through Stanford University’s School of Law, is a licensed Career Management Fellow, and is fluent in Spanish and French. She serves on the advisory board of SurpriseHR, and on the board of the North Carolina-based insurance company, Search Guarantee Corporation.
